Public/Private – Making Sustainability Work

Sustainability ImageTo remain economically competitive in the future, public and private entities must develop policy structures to move toward sustainability. For communities and corporations alike, it is good for economic development and it is good for life cycle costs. While much of the information on sustainability focuses on the green building envelope, 65% of the carbon footprint is produced outside of the building envelope.

This one day symposium, hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas and sponsored by AECOM, focuses on the long term economic impact and consequences of policies related to land use and site development. The day begins with public and private sector expert panels followed by discussion. The symposium luncheon features the Mayors of Arlington, Fort Worth and Frisco presenting an overview of their cities’ progress toward sustainability. Structured interaction in the afternoon moves participants forward faster into an economically viable sustainable future.

The symposium is designed for participants in the public and private sector who are responsible for site development, sustainability managers, managers of energy efficiency and green programs, and public/private sector policy makers leading organizations toward sustainability.

“Public/Private – Making Sustainability Work” features sessions on:

  • Zero Carbon Footprint
  • Public Policy
  • Policy to Practice
  • Mayor’s Panel
  • Green within Centers of Excellence
  • Salad Approach: Mixing Green within Organizations
